What we collect
Analytics
No third-party analytics. No cookie, no localStorage, nothing written to your device at all. When you load a page, our own server counts three things: which page, whether an ad script was reachable, and how many seconds you stayed.
To count how many different people visited on a given day, the server computes a hash of your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, a secret, and today's date. Only the hash is stored. Because the date is inside it, the hash changes at midnight: yesterday cannot be linked to today, and the original IP address cannot be recovered from it. We can tell you that 300 people came. We cannot tell you, or ourselves, who any of them were.
The ad-block counter
Each page load tries to fetch a script named like an advertisement. If it loads, we add one to a counter for the day. If it does not, we add one to a different counter. Two numbers per day, no identifier attached to either.
We do this because this site is paid for by ads, and we wanted to know whether our readers block them before betting a year of work on the answer. Nothing changes on the page either way, and blocking ads costs you nothing here.
If you subscribe, we store your address and the date. We send one email when a new formula is verified and published. We do not send anything else, we do not sell or share the list, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Ask and it is deleted.
Reports
When you report something broken, we store your message and the page it was about. Your IP address is hashed and used only to stop one person from sending a thousand reports; the hash is deleted within the hour.
Advertising
This site does not currently show ads. When it does, they will come from Google AdSense. Google may set cookies and use them to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any of that happens, and you can refuse without losing access to anything here.

What we never do
- Sell, rent, or share your email address.
- Store an identifier that follows you between visits.
- Send you anything you did not ask for.
